The Aurum hotel is a low rise European style classic bulding stylishly crafted featuring only 12 rooms. Nevertheless, it has all comforts and convenience one can can expect. Located next to the river, its coffee shop meters from the water, directly overlooking 'Wat Arun', the temple of Dawn.
It is a treat for any visitor to watch life passing by on the river as passenger boats as well as barges laden with goods and longtail boats are making their way up and down the Chao Praya River.
In addition, Aurum The River Place is a fully a non-smoking hotel, and strives to minimize negative environmental impact.
Accommodation and facilities:
The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, especially at the front desk. Good location for sightseeing. The rooms are very clean.
No breakfast buffet, the choice is a little bit limited.
If we would organize a trip to Bangkok again, we would definitely come back to Aurum The Riverplace.

This is a lovely little hotel right by the riverside, where you can enjoy the view of the Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) from your breakfast table. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and nice, there was no traffic noise around. You couldn´t find a better location, close to everything you would like to visit: the Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, the Reclining Buddha, the flower market et cetera. Someone said it was difficult for taxi drivers to find, but you can download a map in Thai from their webbsite (www.www.aurum-bangkok.com), and you will have no trouble. I would definitely stay there again!

What a wonderful little hotel. Very quiet, clean, the staff is so friendly and all speak fairly good English. Don t miss the rooftop with a beautiful view of the harbor. The coffee shop next door has very good coffee and The Deck restaurant down the street was a treat.
Reservation service:
My friend who made all the reservations said Sawadee was excellent to work with and very responsive.

Aurum was perfect. If someone is looking for a fancy highrise with a posh swimming pool, this isn t it, but if they want LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION, this should be the ticket. The hotel was very clean, the staff was most helpful, breakfast was great, right by the Chao Praya River and the manager even referred me to a very fine jewelry store for some shopping. I would stay here again when I come back to Bangkok. It is only 1/4 mile from Wat Po and 1/2 mile from the Palace and right on the river.
Reservation service:
The booking service was wonderful. I had to make a change and they accomodated it with ease. I would use them again. thanks

Lovely hotel with friendly and helpful staff in a great location for the main tourist sites. Not loads of restaurants nearby but those we went to were very good and easy to get transport to other areas. Worth getting pick up from air port as not that easy to find for taxi drivers!

Accommodation and facilities:
Absolutely LOVED the place in every way: cleanliness, professionalism, hospitality (like being a special house guest), with a location near historical attractions (Royal Palace). Recommend having directions for taxi translated into THAI first, as is not easy to find initially, without prior knowledge. Ladies served us well in the selection of tourist services/sites/restaurants in Bangkok, and everything was perfect-- they were very accommodating. Place is updated, stylish, very clean/quiet/on the river/located near easy water transportation.

Accommodation and facilities:
Exceptional hospitality, good location near historic touristic interests (Royal Palance), need directions translated into Thai for taxi drivers, close to river transportation, very clean stylish-updated accommodations. Classy. Personally accommodating and helpful with tourist needs (translations, scheduling events, recommendations, general welcome and help). Very professional and well-run place-great cost to value. Nice breakfast setting outside/associated with small coffee shop. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

There are both good and bad commentary on this hotel. The good is that the room I stayed in was very clean and nicely appointed with large rain shower head and marble lav. However the bad is that there is no staff to help with your bags, no bar or restaurant, and you are required to leave you key at the desk everytime you leave. Why this later picadillo of leaving key is so strictly enforced is bizarre to me. On top of that the hotel has only ten channels to pick from. Now in this day of electronics, satelites etc, why they don t have a large selection doesn t make sense. The hotel management needs to wake up and either charge less for their rooms or provide the sercies expected for a room that is in the 100 dollar per day range. I will never return

LOCATION MAP
Aurum The River Place is situated on the Bangkok bank of the Chao
Phraya River, the main artery of Thailand, within walking distance
from the Grand Palace, the Emerald Buddha Temple, and the Temple of
the Reclining Buddha (Wat Po), to mention but a few.
It is part of the old Rattanakosin Island which came into existence
at the beginning of the reign of King Rama I of the Rattanakosin
(Bangkok) period over 225 years ago. Hence you will find in this
area many historical sites - palaces, temples, shrines, markets, old
communities and houses, with some areas still retaining almost
unchanged traditional ways of living.
From the hotel, guests can enjoy the view of the Temple of Dawn (Wat
Arun), one of Bangkok's best-known landmarks, located on the
opposite bank of the river. Watching the river life passing
by-passenger, long-tail boats, rice barges laden with goods, luxury
tourist boats, and many more, you will easily feel the peaceful pace
of the Thai river life style. When evening comes with a clear sky,
you will be stunned at the sight of sunset against the backdrop of
the glittering temples on the opposite side of the river.
